Understanding Our Services: Private Pharmacy Care and NHS Services Under One Roof
At DMB Chemist and Tower Pharmacy, we operate as a private pharmacy that also delivers NHS services, giving our patients greater choice and flexibility in how they access healthcare. This model allows us to provide essential NHS-funded care alongside a wider range of private clinical services, all conveniently under one roof. Whether you’re using NHS services or choosing a private consultation, our focus is on delivering safe, professional, and accessible care tailored to your needs.
Our Role as a Private Pharmacy
First and foremost, DMB Chemist and Tower Pharmacy are private healthcare providers. This allows us to offer flexible, patient-centred services that go beyond what the NHS is able to fund or deliver. Being a private pharmacy means we can provide faster access, longer consultations, and a wider range of treatments, all led by qualified healthcare professionals.
Many of our services are delivered by Independent Prescriber Pharmacists, who are trained to assess, diagnose, and prescribe medication where appropriate. These consultations do not require a GP referral and are designed to make healthcare simpler, quicker, and more convenient.
The NHS Services We Also Provide
Alongside our private services, we are commissioned to deliver certain NHS services. These include NHS prescription dispensing, Pharmacy First consultations for specific conditions, NHS flu and COVID vaccinations when available, and other funded public health services.
NHS services are free at the point of use for eligible patients, but they are also limited by strict eligibility criteria, availability, and funding rules. This means not every patient or condition can be treated under the NHS, and appointment availability may be restricted.
Why Some Services Have a Cost
Because we are a private pharmacy, many of the services we offer sit outside NHS funding. Private consultations involve longer appointment times, detailed assessments, prescribing authority, follow-up support, and access to treatments not covered by the NHS. These services are paid for by the patient, but they offer clear benefits such as same-day appointments, greater choice, and continuity of care.
This does not replace NHS care — it complements it. Our private services exist to support patients who need quicker access, more personalised care, or treatment options that are simply not available through NHS pathways.
One Location, Clear Choice
Although everything happens in one place, it’s important to understand that NHS services and private services are different, even when delivered by the same team. Our staff are always happy to explain which service applies, whether there is a fee, and what options are available to you before you book or proceed. By operating as a private pharmacy with NHS services, we are able to offer the best of both worlds: essential NHS care alongside accessible, high-quality private healthcare — all under one roof.
