  • Traveling to High-Risk Areas
Travellers to regions where both hepatitis A and typhoid fever are common should get vaccinated to prevent infection.

    Endemic Areas
Residents of areas with poor sanitation and high incidence rates of these diseases should consider vaccination, especially during outbreaks.

    High-Risk Occupations
Healthcare workers, aid workers, and others who might be exposed to these diseases in their work should be vaccinated.

    Underlying Health Conditions
Individuals with chronic liver disease or other conditions that increase susceptibility to infections should consider vaccination.

    High-Risk Activities
Those participating in activities that might expose them to contaminated food or water, such as camping or backpacking in high-risk areas, should be vaccinated.

  • Hepatitis A Infection
This viral infection can cause jaundice, fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. While usually self-limiting, it can lead to severe liver complications, especially in older adults or those with pre-existing liver conditions.

    Typhoid Fever Infection
This bacterial infection, caused by Salmonella typhi, can result in high fever, weakness, stomach pain, headache, and loss of appetite. Severe cases can lead to intestinal perforation and death if not treated promptly.

    Potential for Outbreaks
In communities with low vaccination rates, both diseases can spread rapidly, leading to larger outbreaks and significant public health challenges.

  • Primary Vaccination
One Dose: A single dose provides protection against both hepatitis A and typhoid fever. Immunity to hepatitis A usually begins within 2-4 weeks after vaccination, while immunity to typhoid fever typically starts within 1-2 weeks.

    Booster Doses
Hepatitis A: For ongoing protection against hepatitis A, a booster dose is recommended 6-12 months after the initial dose, ensuring long-term immunity.

Typhoid Fever: If continuous or repeat exposure to typhoid is expected, a booster dose is recommended every three years.
